It’s not a stretch to know a witch in Shreveport or in Louisiana for that matter, but what exactly does it mean to be a witch.
A short while back, Jade Thornton was known in Shreveport as the “No-Nonsense Witch.”
“I did brand myself previously as a witch,” Thornton said. “The ‘No-Nonsense Witch’ was my moniker. Now I just do projects under my own name because I got to the point where I realized how fluid spirituality is and that putting a definition to it, was limiting the way I felt I could express myself. This is what I believe, and this is what helps and supports me in my everyday life.”
Claiming the witch moniker today can entail anything from being a practitioner of Wicca — a religion founded in the 20th century — to practicing any number of neo-pagan ritual or ceremonial magic, research shows.
What is paganism? It’s religious beliefs other than those of the mainstream world religions.
