KUCHING: A conditional movement control order (MCO) will be enforced in Kuching district for 14 days starting Nov 9 in view of the Covid-19 spike in the area, says Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the Kuching district remained a red zone with 151 locally transmitted cases in the last 14 days.
“We have seen the number of cases rising daily, with 25 today (Nov 7) and 18 yesterday (Nov 6).
“We have evaluated the situation and taken into account the number of local transmissions in the last 14 days.
“Therefore, the time has come for us to enforce the conditional MCO in Kuching district from Nov 9 to 22,” he said at the state disaster management committee’s briefing here on Saturday (Nov 7).
Uggah said detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the conditional MCO will be announced on Sunday (Nov 8).
