Every year, no matter the president, the holiday season has traditionally meant several parties and tours hosted at the White House. It’s a time for glad-handing and hand-gladding, a moment for personal and brief proximity to power for lawmakers and staffers. It can be one’s only audience with the president all year.
This year, to celebrate, the country is careening toward 300,000 deaths in less than a year from the pandemic and hosting over a dozen of these parties with guest lists of more than 50 people, according to The Washington Post.
