What is Bulimia?
An eating disorder that became the talk of the town post the recent season of popular Netflix show ‘The Crown’ dropped on the streaming platform, bulimia, also called bulimia nervosa is a serious, potentially life-threatening disorder wherein the person consumes a huge amount of food at a time.
During these gorges, he/ she has no feeling of command over his/her eating. Subsequently, they undertake a not-so-healthy, almost improper approaches to get more fit, for example; vomiting, taking laxatives, fasting, compulsive exercising etc. The disorder tends to start in late childhood or early adulthood.
People suffering from the disorder are usually preoccupied with their weight and body shape. They judge themselves so severely and harshly for their self-perceived flaws, that they usually weigh within the normal range for their age. Because it’s related to self-image — and not just about food…
