SILVERDALE — On Saturday, St. Michael Medical Center will carry out its long-awaited move to Silverdale and into a new $500 million hospital that will open as CHI Franciscan’s flagship facility on the Kitsap Peninsula.
St. Michael’s Bremerton hospital will close after the transition takes place this weekend. That means it’s Level III trauma care services will move to Silverdale from its Bremerton campus, which has served as Kitsap’s medical hub for more than five decades.
However, an outpatient emergency room will remain open at the Bremerton facility until CHI Franciscan completes an urgent care next to its primary care clinic in West Bremerton. That’s expected to take another half of a year.
