Words cannot describe how pumped I am for Shaman King (2021)! One of my favorite memories from my early otaku days involved waking up early on Saturday mornings to catch a new episode of the original Shaman King anime adaptation on the Fox network. Now, a whole new generation of fans who weren’t able to catch it the first time around is going to get to watch it and that excites me!
Originally a manga series created by Hiroyuki Takei, which ran from June 1998 to August 2004 in Weekly Shonen Jump, the series was collected in 32 volumes and originally published in English by Viz Media. In 2017, Kodansha rescued the license and is re-releasing the entire series, both digitally and physically.
Studio Bridge will produce the animation this time around, with Joji Furuta serving as the director. They’ll be working off scripts written by Shoji Yonemura.
